6 Awesome Ways to Get Around London

London’s Canal Boats

If youโ€™re planning your first trip to London or looking for a more fun way to get around, make the most of the scenic route. Rather than spending all your time on the underground or on expensive bus tours, make your own way around the city for a more authentic experience. You can even hire a chauffeur or a canal boat for the day. If youโ€™re on a bit of a budget, itโ€™s also easy to explore on foot or by bike. Here are the most awesome ways to get around London.

Canal boat rides

You can hire a narrowboat on Regentโ€™s Canal for an original way to see new parts of the city. The London waterbus service has many options. You can take the boat as a water taxi to enjoy the city from a different perspective. You can also hire a canal boat for overnight use or longer trips. Regentโ€™s Canal is an iconic must-see in London with its traditional narrowboats passing through stunning scenery.

Hire a chauffeur

Treat yourself and Hire A London Chauffeur. London has plenty of swanky places to visit, so what better way to start your night out on the town? You could also check out one of Londonโ€™s most prestigious events for a treat at the end of your trip. Chauffeurs are also available for airport pick-up and drop-off, so if youโ€™d like to return home in style, enjoy a luxurious ride before getting your flight.

Explore by bike

For a more budget-friendly option, you could try the city bikes. These can be conveniently hired from multiple locations using an app and only cost ยฃ2 per ride. You can then leave them at one of the many bike racks at your final destination. There are plenty of bike paths in London and you can cycle around one of the beautiful parks or along the canals. Itโ€™s a perfect way to see the sights and youโ€™ll get some exercise as well.

Double-decker bus

You donโ€™t need to pay for a tour bus to see London’s quirkiest attractions. Why not explore your own itinerary by taking the traditional red double-deckers? These are much cheaper and easy to use. You can pay by card and donโ€™t need a travel pass of any kind. Although it might sometimes take longer, itโ€™s nicer than travelling underground as youโ€™ll see more of the city.

Scenic walks

London is a great city for exploring on foot, donโ€™t be put off by its size. You can embark on one of London’s prettiest walks, especially in the warmer months. You just might discover hidden gems along the way. By travelling on foot you can get off the beaten track and enjoy a more authentic experience. Stop off at traditional restaurants and pubs along the way, and lesser-known attractions. Walking is one of the best ways to appreciate the variety and beauty of the city. You can always mix and match transport according to your itinerary, and design your own route around London.

River Boats

The Thames cuts through the very heart and center of London and creates one of the least congested routes to use to get around the city. The Thames Clippers are a water-bus option for cutting East to West across the heart of London. Though many tour companies have an option for their unique boats the Thames Clippers can be accessed using an Oyster Card and are a fraction of the cost.
