St Markโs Square, Venice.
The โThen & Nowโ series I started a few years ago compared photos my grandfather has taken in the 60s and more modern ones Iโve taken in recent years. Last year my great-aunt passed away at the beautiful age of 95, and my mother found her old slides from her European travels. So now the series will comprise of photos from both my Great Auntโs photos and my Grandfatherโs photos.
My Great Aunt took a “grand tour” of Eurorpe in the 1950s and visited St Mark’s square in this gorgeous photo below (coloring is a bit off though, the pinks should be red!). And last year I visited the same square while spending a few days in Venice. I had her photo with me at the time and noticed that there were few differences between the years. The white lines of the market stalls were more pronounced on her photo but they were definitely present in the square still when I visited.
